Local Cultural Heritage

Archaeological excavations and investigations provide us with knowledge about how people at different times and in different places adapted to the given conditions, lived and created history. The department of Local Cultural Heritage undertakes archaeological excavations and investigations in the area around Aarhus, and in Odder, Favrskov and Samsø municipalities.

World Heritage

At Moesgaard, we place the great, in-depth world stories in context. The department of World Heritage is responsible for marine archaeology, Arabic archaeology, anthropology and ethnography, and research projects in Denmark and abroad.

Conservation and Natural Sciences

Moesgaard’s department of Conservation and Natural Sciences gives a broad range of advice, undertakes commissioned and special tasks involving material analysis, as well as excavating finds in the laboratory and ensuring that antiquities and ethnographic material do not disintegrate. The aim of the analyses is to achieve better knowledge of people in prehistoric times.

Archaeological IT
