VIKING AGE EXHIBITION

Join an expedition out into the world

With the personal stories of the Vikings in our ears, we follow them through the smoky, narrow alleyways of Aros – the Aarhus of the Viking period, steer your own ship through open waters and belts to the mountains of Norway, or travel via rivers to exotic Constantinople.

AD 800 - AD 1066

The adventures of the Vikings

We choose which person from the Viking Age we want to follow on an adventure: Queen Tove, Harald Bluetooth’s young bride, 12-year-old Arne or how about the first bishop of Aros, Reginbrand? Their personal stories lead us out into a world of trade, plundering and discoveries.

A truly fascinating exhibition

We loved the many Viking stories which you could hear by choosing an amulet and following the life of its owner. We spent a very long time in this part.

The Gokstad boat

Experience the 6.5 meter-long Gokstad boat – an authentic Viking boat from the legendary Gokstad Ship from Norway. This manoeuvrable boat, which the Vikings used to row crews and exchange orders between the warships, is one of the most famous and well-preserved ship finds of the Viking Age.
